HD-DVD’s are all but dead now. Their sales pale in comparison to those of Blu-Rays recently and you’ll be hard pressed to see another company pushing the technology any time soon. Xbox 360 gave up on it already even.

The reason PS2 did so well is there were literally no other consoles to compete with at the time. PS1 struggled because it came into the game late. Any console that comes into the console war late is at a huge disadvantage because they need to entice developers and fans alike to instill loyalty.

If you’re referring to the PS2 vs. PS3 success in their early lifespans that’s one thing. But what it sounds like to me is that you’re saying the PS2 is still out performing the PS3 which makes no sense.

If you didn’t know this the Blu-Ray player on the PS3 is amazingly good not just for the price, but in comparison to all other Blu-Ray’s on the market right now. The reason the PS3 is struggling is because unlike with the PS2, they came to the party late, and made a lot of bad business choices immediately thereafter. This generation of console wars is all but lost thanks to that.
